George Giggall

The Rt Rev George Kenneth Giggall, OBE was an eminent Anglican Clergyman in the 20th century. He was born on 15 April 1914[1] and educated at Manchester University. After a period of study at St Chad's College, Durham. Ordained Deacon in 1939[2] and Priest in 1940, he began his career with curacies at St Alban’s Cheetwood and St Elisabeth’s, Reddish.[3] In 1945 he joined the Royal Navy as a Chaplain[4] serving until 1969 when he became Dean of Gibraltar.[5] In 1973 he was appointed Bishop of St Helena,[6] a post he held until 1979. He died on 23 September 1999.
